I am currently the Head of Technology at SetPatrol (a remote tech startup) where I researched and selected a tech stack for a film-equipment marketplace and led a team of remote developers to carefully iterate on programming the marketplace with care and passion. I also collaborated and contributed to the MVP and product expectations. It has sharpened my communication and organizational skills while honing my self-motivation and adaptability as a developer.

Before this I spent several months as a Junior Web Developer Intern at SetPatrol where I gained valuable experience navigating an existing codebase, fixing a multitude of bugs and writing production level PHP, HTML, CSS & JavaScript.

I have been learning and falling in love with programming since January of 2019, but my journey started for real in August of 2019 when I joined Lambda School to take their Full-Stack Web Development & Computer Science course which I finished in November 2020.

While attending Lambda School (and working a full-time job) over the past 18 months, I’ve completed a great deal of coursework on cutting-edge web development technologies and best practices, including Agile software development and Git Workflow. I learned and applied skills, including JavaScript, React, Redux, React Router, HTML/CSS, LESS, Styled-Components, Node, Express.js, REST APIs, Python and SQLite in a range of web and mobile platforms, from wireframing to the final product as well as client-side and server testing and data structures & algorithms.

My previous career as a head coffee roaster in the specialty coffee industry has given me valuable insights into managing a critical department of a small business through developing advanced skills in organization, problem-solving and communication; preparing me well for a career in software.

ReVitalize
revitalize

React | SASS | Apollo | Prisma | GraphQL

  • ReVitalize is a crowdfunding platform that creates apprenticeship opportunities to help tradesmen develop skills to gain licensing through projects that help communities.
  • Collaborated with 4 remote team members in an Agile development environment to iterate through 3 client approved release-canvasses of numerous bug fixes, accessibility issues and addition of several new features.
  • Solely responsible for:
    • Constructing the FAQ page to clearly represent the application's intent and answer frequently asked questions users might have while also integrating styles with the application's existing dark mode.
    • Achieving 100% test coverage for the footer component using Jest.
    • Re-designing the dashboard component to fully responsive across desktop, tablet and phone views and dark mode compatible.
  • Pair programmed with several other team member to fix the bugs in the footer component and fix state management issue in the dashboard component.
Game of Life
reducer

React | Styled-Components | Bootstrap

  • Application that demonstrates John Conway's Game of Life (a zero player game where one sets initial state and observes the evolution).
  • Designed, built & deployed by myself over 1 week.
Top Movies & Shows
reducer

React | React Router | Material-UI | Webpack | Babel

  • An application that shows lists of top movies & tv shows from the IMDB API and allows you to search for any movie or show.
  • Created an asynchronous custom React hook that takes in a url and returns data, loading & error state, making displaying each returned state easy and quick. I have since adopted this hook in my NASA Photo Of The Day application as well.
  • Learned in 1 day how to configure Webpack & Babel to bundle the application.
  • Designed, built, bundled & deployed by myself over 1 week.
NASA Photo Of The Day
reducer

React | Styled-Components

  • An application that displays the "Astronomy Photo Of The Day" from NASA's API along with a description.
  • Designed, built & deployed by myself over 1 day.
To Do Application
reducer

React | The Reducer Pattern (via useReducer hook) | Styled-Components.

  • A To Do application for adding, selecting and deleting different tasks.
  • Designed, built & deployed by myself over 3 days.
